Frequently Asked Questions
What Can We Learn From Abraham Lincoln?
Abraham Lincoln stated, "I am slow learner; I am quick to forget."
He understood the importance of learning and knew that he would eventually need to let go of old habits in order to embrace new ones.
The same goes for businesses. No matter how well we plan for success, there will be times when we hit roadblocks and find ourselves stuck in an unproductive rut.
It is vital to continually learn and develop new skills. We must never stop learning, even after reaching the top of our success.
Lincoln had the right mindset. Lincoln understood that he could be more efficient in his business but that he couldn't quit learning.
There are two types of entrepreneurs. There are two types of entrepreneurs: those who keep busy and those who stay sharp.
Those who keep busy are focused on their business' growth. They spend their time on product development and marketing, as well as customer service.
They may feel like they've accomplished something meaningful, but often they're missing the mark. These entrepreneurs will not achieve sustainable growth unless they are focused on becoming smarter.
What sets successful entrepreneurs apart from ordinary ones? The ability to quickly adapt to changing circumstances.
Entrepreneurs are successful because they look for ways of improving their products and services in the face of challenges.
However, most entrepreneurs stick to old-fashioned methods that no longer work. They will not change their ways until they fail.
To be successful, you have to master both the art and skill of self-reflection.
What are some lessons learned from history?
Three lessons can be learned from history. First, you must do it yourself when you change the world. You must make sure people are ready to change the way they live. The third thing you must do to improve the future is to first change how people live.
The first lesson is to recognize that there are two options for changing the world. One is fight for it. When you fight for it, you focus on winning and lose sight of why you started fighting in the first place.
Although you cannot control the reactions of people to your ideas, you can control how they are presented. If you try to convince someone, you will fail. But, if your goal is to inspire someone to act, you'll be successful.
Most great movements began because somebody had an idea and decided to act upon it. It doesn't matter if you're trying to create change or react to it. These are the rules that will help you make an impact.
The second lesson is that we all have a choice. You can either let your life happen or you can choose to make it happen. This means we must decide what kind of life we want to lead. Do we wait for someone else to permit us to live? Or do you want to be in control of your destiny?
We are living in a golden age, I would argue. We have more opportunities than ever before which is creating excitement. People feel empowered, which is exciting.
This creates a problem. It's not easy to know what you want or how to get it. Therefore, it is important to identify what you want and then find a way.
Let's take, for example, the desire to purchase a house. You could relax and hope that someone will give you a gift voucher to Home Depot. Or you could ask yourself, "What would I love to do?" Find a job that will allow you to do it. Next, apply for financing.
Let's suppose you want to travel the globe. Now, you might wonder "Where would I like to go?" You'd then begin saving money, researching different countries online and speaking with friends. And finally, you'd book a flight.
Let's suppose you don't know what you want. In this case, you'd probably end-up doing one of the things. By asking yourself such questions, you increase the likelihood of getting what your heart desires. It may seem silly, but it works.
The third lesson is that you can always improve your future no matter what happens. It is easy to see why. Our choices shape who we are and who we become.
The trick to success is to look back at history and learn from their mistakes and successes.
If you don't believe you have something to offer the world, you're already behind. You must believe that you are capable of doing more than you thought possible.
If you don't know where to begin, start with what you know. Start small and go from there. Consider what you have learned over the course of your life. What are you most proud of? What have you succeeded at? How did you overcome obstacles?
Don't forget to remember that only you can limit your potential. No matter what others say, you are capable of doing anything you set your mind to.
Benjamin Franklin wrote, "Nothing works unless you do."
Do we have to learn history in order to avoid making the same mistakes as before?
Because we keep repeating the same mistakes, history repeats itself. We make mistakes and fail to learn. We don't change. We become complacent. We settle for mediocrity.
History also repeats itself because we keep believing the same old stories. We have been taught to believe there are unchanging laws and fixed truths. They cannot be changed.
This makes it difficult to think critically. From questioning authority. Questioning authority. When we do not question, we stagnate. We stagnate if we don’t move forward. We repeat the same mistakes when we stagnate.
But history isn't the same because we continue making the same mistakes. History repeats because we refuse lessons from our mistakes and continue making them over and again.
You can end the cycle of history repetition by changing the way that you view the world. By understanding that nothing is permanent, you can see the possibilities. There is no set in stone. All things are in constant flux.
To break the cycle, embrace uncertainty. Accepting the possibility of things going wrong. To accept the possibility of failure. To accept that failure is a possibility.
Accept the fact that you might not reach your goals. But to accept that, you should strive to improve anyway.
Holding on to the past will keep you stuck. If you believe there are only certain truths, it will be impossible to move forward.
You can't control your destiny. If you want to progress, you have to give up control.
What are three things you can learn from history?
There are plenty of examples from history that show how we can learn lessons from our mistakes. They can be applied to today's business challenges.
Our past has shown us that there's always another way. There's always someone out there that thinks outside the box, and takes risks that make him or her stand out.
History shows us that often, it's the underdogs and not the winners who win. When you feel overwhelmed, stuck or lost, think back to the times when they won.
Look back on the past and learn from it. Learn from the successes and failures of others.
These lessons will help you increase your success rate.

How To
How did propaganda become marketing history?
The term "propaganda" was first used in 1879 when German sociologist Max Weber coined the word from the Greek word "praopagos" which means "to speak well." The word came from the Latin verb "propere," meaning "nearby" or "at hand," and the noun "agogos," meaning "speech or discourse." It's a "systematic attempt to influence attitudes and behavior."
George Orwell, British journalist and author of "Propaganda," wrote that propaganda was not intended to convince people to believe anything. He only wanted to change their beliefs...
Edward Bernays (1891 – 95), who was Sigmund's nephew, and psychoanalyst. He became famous when he created the term "public relations" (1922). He stated that the conscious and intelligent manipulations of the organized opinions and habits of the masses was an essential element of a democratic society. He started the public relations agency "Bernays & Company", where he remained until 1955.
Bernays devised a technique called "engineering consent" to influence public opinion using advertising and publicity campaigns. This was from the 1920s to 1950s. His methods were later adopted in mass media such as Time Magazines, CBS News and NBC News. Bernays became a close collaborator with corporations and government agencies in order to influence public opinion after World War II. His clients included Johnson & Johnson and General Electric as well as Procter & Gamble and Coca-Cola.
The tobacco industry was his greatest client. He assisted Philip Morris in launching a campaign to stop smoking. In 1939, the Surgeon General recommended that smoking should be banned inside. The Cigarette Advertising Act, which banned any advertisement for cigarettes in print media (magazines, newspapers, television) was passed by the Senate in 1965.
He also gave advice on how to deal during the Great Depression with the growing labor movement. Bernays suggested to the president that he declare a "war against hunger" and use the federal government's ability to ensure adequate food supplies. This strategy made it look like the government was a father figure and helped the president to win re-election in 36.
Bernays was a pioneer in the promotion of radio listening to increase sales. He introduced the concept "branding", "advertising" and other concepts in the early 1930s. He believed that customers could be motivated by appealing to their emotional side, and making them feel unique. He promoted the slogan, "Have I got what it takes?" in 1933, encouraging women to buy war bonds.
In 1944, he created a political action committee called "Young People for Freedom." This group had the goal of encouraging Americans aged 18 to 30 to vote Republican. Dwight Eisenhower was elected president in 1952 after Bernays' efforts were successful.
In 1953, Bernays persuaded the CIA to stage a coup in Iran, replacing Mohammad Mosaddegh with Shah Reza Pahlevi. This was to stop Mosaddegh acquiring Iranian oilfields. Bernays wrote articles extolling the new regime in praise after the coup.
Bernays has received numerous other awards throughout his professional career.
