Outstanding journalist John Pilger turns his critical eye towards the difficulties many families experience in trying to cope with conditions in Britain today. He reveals disturbing facts. Despite the fact that child labour has long since been outlawed and the threat of starvation is no longer there, many parents are today going to bed hungry in order to give their children the food they need. Among the people he interviews are members of families who, though claiming their full social benefit, cannot afford to feed themselves properly. The reason: the ever-increasing queue of unemployed, for unemployment brings hardship in its wake.
