Arctic War: Into the Unknown | ICE RACE | Full Episode 3

The Arctic has a lot of coveted resources and was one of the most important battlefields during the Cold War. Could this happen again? Has the Cold War returned?

The battle for resources will intensify military activities in the north and the chances of confrontations occurring will increase. Energy reserves - like oil and gas - elsewhere in the world are in the process of becoming depleted, but there are still huge quantities of petroleum around the North Pole. The potential for conflict over these resources has resulted in a substantial increase in military activities in the Arctic during the last few years. Will we succeed in resolving this forthcoming energy crisis without resorting to the use military force? The Arctic was an important military area during both the Second World War and the Cold War. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, NATO placed priority on other areas of the world, but military focus on the Arctic has now returned with full force. In the first episode of the documentary series ICE RACE we will see how, like Norway and NATO, the Russians are now building up their military striking power in the north.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do our mistakes teach us?

You can learn from your mistakes. This means that you will learn something. Even more important, you can correct any mistakes you make. So don't sweat the small stuff because there's nothing wrong with making mistakes. We all make mistakes.

You might feel embarrassed if you've made a mistake, but it doesn't matter whether you feel bad. It's how you deal with your mistakes that matters most. You will let your mistakes bother you. Instead, see them as an opportunity for growth and you'll be stronger.

Acknowledge and move past a mistake is the best way for you to overcome it. It is important to not dwell on the mistake and instead focus on the next steps. Keep moving forward.

Don't obsess over your mistakes. Instead, find ways to improve. Learn from your mistakes and be better tomorrow.

Successful Inventions Made from Accident

Inventors make mistakes. However, how we react to these mistakes will determine whether or not our inventions are great successes.

When it comes to invention, there are no accidents. Each invention was created intentionally. An accidental invention is not possible.

An invention can be described as a deliberate act. An intention to create something. Something that solves a problem. Something that makes life better for someone.

However, the key to creating a successful invention is understanding how nothing happens by accident. Instead of trying to avoid mistakes, learn from them.

While we wish to claim that invention can be easy, it isn’t. Invention requires hard work and persistence. It's not a quick fix. It takes patience.

You will need to spend a lot time thinking about ideas and problems. What are people concerned about? What do they really need?

These are the questions you need to ask. These questions will help to determine the type of product and service that you should be developing next.

This requires you to let go of any preconceived notions. Preconceived notions about what the world needs or wants are not valid. Listen carefully to potential and actual customers.

They must learn what they are looking for. Not what they tell you they want.

Once you know what your customers want, it is time to create a way for them to get it. Here's where invention really begins.

What lessons can history teach us?

History has taught us three important lessons. First, to truly change the world, one must take responsibility for it. The second is to ensure that people are ready to accept change in their lives. You can only change the future if it is better.

The first lesson is that there are two ways to change the world. One is fighting for it, the other is creating it. You can lose sight of the reason you started fighting.

You can't control how people react to your ideas, but you can control how you present them. You'll inevitably fail if you set out to convince someone of something. But, if your goal is to inspire someone to act, you'll be successful.

Most great movements began because somebody had an idea and decided to act upon it. No matter whether you are creating change, or reacting to it. Here are three ways you can make your mark: Be clear about the things you want, be honest with where you came from, be courageous enough to go where no other person has gone before, and be clear about who you are.

The second lesson is that we all have a choice. Either we wait for the right circumstances to unfold or we can make them happen. This means that it is up to us to decide how we want our lives to be. Do we wait for someone else to permit us to live? Or do we want to take charge of our destiny?

I believe we are living in a golden era. There's more opportunity than ever before, creating a lot of excitement. People feel empowered to make their own futures and that's very exciting.

But it also creates a problem. It's hard to know what you want.

Let's assume you want to purchase a house. Or you could just sit back and wait for someone to give you a gift card to Home Depot. Or, you can ask yourself, "What do I love to be doing?" Then, look for a job that lets you do it. Finally, apply for financing.

Now, suppose you were to travel the world. You might ask yourself, "Where do I want to go?" The next step is to start saving money, research countries online, talk with friends, etc. You'd then book a ticket.

Now, let's say you didn't know what you wanted. You would most likely do one of these things. You can increase your chances to get what you want by asking these questions. Although it may sound silly, it is effective.

And the third lesson is that no matter what happens next, you can always improve the future. The reason is simple. Our choices shape who we are and who we become.

It is important to take inspiration from past experiences, learn from mistakes and succeed until you are successful.

You're already behind if you don't think you have anything to offer the world. You must believe in yourself and that you are more than you believed.

You don't need to know everything in order to start. Start small, and work your way up. Look back at the things you've done throughout your lifetime. What have your failures been? What has been your greatest success? How did you overcome your obstacles?

Don't forget to remember that only you can limit your potential. No matter how much anyone tells, you can achieve anything you set your mind.

Benjamin Franklin wrote, "Nothing works unless you do."

What is the most important thing you should know about history?

This question doesn't have an easy answer. However, there are three main points to consider when thinking about learning. First, we must realize that knowledge is power. Second, we must recognize that knowledge is cumulative. Third, knowledge is constantly changing.

Knowledge is power because it empowers us to make better decisions and improve our lives. We would not have any trouble making decisions if our information was perfect. We would always do what is best for us, and not worry about whether it was wrong or right.

Knowledge is power, but it can also be cumulative. This means that knowledge is not only powerful, but also cumulative. As time passes, we get smarter and smarter. Knowledge accumulates.

Now, let's look at the third point. Although knowledge is cumulative, it doesn’t stay static very long. In fact, knowledge is constantly changing. Every day, scientists discover new facts, theories, and ways of thinking. Discoveries are made all the time.

Our culture is dependent on technology that allows us instant access to information. Technology makes it possible to store vast amounts of data in digital form and share it among millions of people worldwide.

Globalization is changing the way that we view technology. Globalization refers simply to the process by which ideas or products spread beyond borders. Because of globalization, knowledge is now accessible everywhere.

Internet access allows anyone to find information from any part of the world. Anyone can read books, watch movies, listen to music, play video games, and surf the web. All of these activities require knowledge.

Knowledge is becoming more accessible but also more specialized. There are hundreds of thousands upon thousands of websites today offering advice on topics like health, finance and business, as well as sports, travel, and cooking. These sites provide information on virtually every topic imaginable.

If you want to buy a car online, however, you will likely only find a few dozen websites that provide automotive-related services. Instead of finding thousands of sites covering every conceivable subject, you'll find only a handful covering cars.

Experts in specific fields are able to create and share valuable knowledge. Experts are often experts in a specific field. They're also able to produce high-quality content that's targeted toward their specific audience.

Consumers will appreciate this specialization because they won't have to go through tons of irrelevant information. Instead, they can focus on a small number of sites with lots of useful content.

Specialization is also a benefit for experts, who can create strong businesses around their expertise. When someone buys a book, he expects the author to know his subject well enough to write a clear and concise explanation of the material. He wants to feel confident that the author is able to convey his message.

Experts who do not specialize risk losing potential customers.

The scope of specialization doesn't stop at one area. Today, most of us are specialists in many different areas. One might be an accountant, lawyer, doctor, teacher, or other specialist. But we're also likely to be a parent, spouses, friends, and fans.

Some experts say that the commonality of specialization makes it impossible to succeed in many different areas.

So how can you become an expert across multiple fields? You can do it by practicing. It's necessary to work hard to learn. As you make progress, you must keep going until you are recognized as an expert.

Many industries today are dedicated to helping others accomplish this goal. You can learn how to quickly acquire knowledge through workshops, seminars, conferences and schools.

What can we learn from history to avoid repeating past errors?

History repeats itself because we keep making the same mistakes again and again. We make mistakes and fail to learn. We don't change. We become complacent. We settle for mediocrity.

History repeats itself because we believe the same old stories. We have been taught to believe there are unchanging laws and fixed truths. They cannot be changed.

This conditioning prevents us from thinking critically. From challenging authority. Questioning authority. And when we don't question, we don't grow. We stagnate if we don’t move forward. Stamina is when we continue to make the same mistakes.

Because we make the same mistakes, history doesn't have to repeat itself. We don't learn from our mistakes, and we keep repeating the same mistakes over and over.

Change your perception of the world and yourself to stop the cycle. Everything is subject to constant flux. All things are subject to constant change.

The key to breaking the cycle of uncertainty is acceptance. Accepting the possibility of things going wrong. Accepting that failure may be possible. Accept that failure is possible.

Accept that your goals may not be achieved. Acceptance is a part of learning, but it's important to continue improving.

You will always remain stuck in the past if you hold on to certainty. You can't move forward if your beliefs are fixed.

If you want freedom, you have to let go. If you want progress, you need to let go of control.

How To

Discovery of Penicillin: Successful Inventions Made by Accident

How did penicillin get created?

Penicillin was discovered accidentally when Alexander Fleming noticed mold growing on some bacteria cultures he had left out. He thought the mold might kill the bacteria, so he tried to find something that would destroy the mold.

He discovered penicillin could kill mold. Later, he realized that this new compound could also fight bacteria-related infection. Penicillin was one the greatest medical breakthroughs. It saved millions of lives and changed the course of medicine forever.

Alexander Fleming was unaware at first of the importance of his finding. No one else knew the same. Penicillin was a powerful antibiotic that no one had ever imagined.

Until after World War II, scientists learned that penicillin worked against bacterial infections. The U.S. Army approached Dr. Fleming about using penicillin to treat soldiers who were infected. Dr. Fleming agreed.

Penicillin was effective against many types infections. It saved the lives of wounded soldiers in World War II. It saved many lives and helped doctors continue their work after the war.

Dr. Fleming was not prepared for his discovery to have such profound effects. He simply wanted to make sure that mold doesn't grow in the bacteria cultures he studied. He could not imagine that this simple experiment would lead him to such a miraculous medical breakthrough.

Truth is that most discoveries every day don’t appear to add up to anything significant. They are experiments performed for no particular reason.

It is amazing how sometimes seemingly insignificant experiments can transform history.

Discoveries that seem to have nothing in common end up being incredibly important. Penicillin was one example. Or photography. Or electricity. Or even computers.

It doesn't happen just because someone has an idea. Because someone has a problem. They then solve the problem by experimentation.
