Exactly 600 years ago, in the summer of 1405, a huge armada weighs anchor in the port of Nanjing, China. Under the command of Admiral Zheng, 200 ships from China with a crew of 27,000 set out for the west. This is to be the first of seven voyages of discovery that will take the gigantic Chinese fleet via Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia to Iran and Africa. It is not until 100 years later that a European achieves a similar feat, when the Portuguese Vasco da Gama circumnavigates the Cape of Good Hope and penetrates as far as India.
But why is it also called Dragon Fleet? Find it out in our documentary!

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the most valuable thing that you have learned in history?
There isn't an easy answer to this question. However, there are three main points to consider when thinking about learning. First, we must realize that knowledge is power. We must also recognize the fact that knowledge is cumulative. Third, we must appreciate how quickly knowledge changes.
Knowledge is power. Because it empowers people to make better decisions. If we had complete information, we wouldn't have any difficulty making decisions. We would always do what is best for us, and not worry about whether it was wrong or right.
Knowledge, although it is power, is also cumulative. Once we have learned something, we can continue adding knowledge to our brains. As time goes on, we become smarter. Knowledge accumulates.
Now, let's look at the third point. Knowledge is not static. Knowledge is always changing. Every day, scientists discover new facts, theories, and ways of thinking. There are always new discoveries.
Technology is a key component of our culture. It allows us to instantly access information. Technology makes it possible to store vast amounts of data in digital form and share it among millions of people worldwide.
Globalization is changing the way that we view technology. Globalization is the process by which ideas and products spread across borders. Because of globalization, knowledge is now accessible everywhere.
The internet allows anyone to access information any where in the world. You can watch movies, browse the internet, listen or play music and read books. All these activities require knowledge.
While knowledge is becoming increasingly accessible, it is also becoming more specialized. If you search online for advice on health, finance or business, you will find hundreds of thousands of sites offering information about topics such as cooking, travel, sport, or business. These websites provide information on just about every topic.
However, if you search online for automotive-related products and services, there are only a handful of sites. There will not be thousands of sites that cover every subject. You'll only find a handful of sites that specialize in cars.
This is because experts can create and share valuable information in their particular fields. Experts often have deep knowledge of a field. Experts can also produce content of high quality that is targeted to their particular audience.
Because consumers don't need to scroll through endless amounts of information, they can focus on a specific niche. Instead, they can focus on a small number of sites with lots of useful content.
Experts also benefit from specialization because they can build strong businesses around their expertise. A person buys a book because he expects that the author is knowledgeable enough about his topic to be able to give a concise and clear explanation. He wants to feel confident that the author is able to convey his message.
Experts that aren't specialists risk losing potential clients who expect them to be experts.
You don't have to specialize in one area. Today, most of us are specialists in many different areas. It could be that we are an accountant, a lawyer or a doctor. Or a teacher. However, we are likely to be parents, spouses, friends and fans.
Experts say it is common to specialize.
How can you become an expert in multiple fields? The simple answer is practice. It's necessary to work hard to learn. As you make progress, you must keep going until you are recognized as an expert.
There are whole industries dedicated to helping others reach this goal. Some courses, workshops, seminars, conferences, and even schools teach people how to gain knowledge quickly.
Are we able to learn from past mistakes and avoid making the same mistakes again?
History repeats itself because we keep making the same mistakes again and again. We don't learn from our mistakes. We don't change. We become complacent. We settle for mediocrity.
History repeats itself because we believe the same old stories. We live in a world where we've been conditioned to believe that there are fixed truths and immutable laws. That we cannot do anything to affect them.
This prevents us thinking critically. From questioning authority. Questioning authority. We don't grow if we don’t question. If we don't grow we stagnate. If we stagnate, then we make the exact same mistakes.
But history isn't the same because we continue making the same mistakes. History repeats itself when we refuse to learn from past mistakes and instead keep repeating them.
You can break the cycle of history repetition by changing how you look at the world and yourself, by understanding that nothing is set in stone. Nothing is unchangeable. All things are subject to constant change.
The key to breaking the cycle is to embrace uncertainty. Accepting the possibility of things going wrong. To accept that we may not succeed. Accepting that failure is possible.
Accept that your goals may not be achieved. You can accept this, but you must continue to strive for improvement.
It's impossible to move forward if you hold onto the past. If you insist on the existence of fixed truths, then you will never move forward.
If you want freedom, you have to let go. To move forward, you must give up control.
What do our mistakes teach us?
Make mistakes, but don't fret about them. It will teach you something. You can also learn from your mistakes. Don't worry about the little things, there is nothing wrong with making errors. They happen to all of us.
Although you might feel embarrassed by a mistake you made, it doesn’t matter how bad you feel. How you handle your mistakes is what matters most. If you allow them to get in the way of your growth, they will eventually eat away at your inner self. If you look at them as opportunities for growth, they'll make you stronger.
Acknowledge and move past a mistake is the best way for you to overcome it. Don't dwell on it; instead, focus on the next step. Keep moving forward.
Don't obsess over your mistakes. Instead, focus on your strengths and work towards improving yourself. Learn from your mistakes and become better tomorrow.
Successful Inventions made by accident
Inventors make mistakes. How we deal with those mistakes is what determines whether our inventions succeed or fail.
The fact is there are no accidents when it comes to invention. Every invention was planned. An accidental invention is not possible.
An invention is a deliberate act. Intentionally making something new. A solution to a problem. It makes someone's life easier.
The key to success is not assuming that everything happens by accident. Instead of trying not to make mistakes, try learning from them.
Invention is not easy. Invention requires hard work and persistence. It's not a quick fix. It takes patience.
It means you have to spend a lot more time thinking about and trying out different ideas. What do people care about? What do they want?
These are the questions you need to ask. These questions will help guide you in deciding what kind of product/service you should develop next.
This requires you to let go of any preconceived notions. Don't make assumptions about what people want or need. Listen to your potential and current customers.
They must learn what they are looking for. They are not what they say they want.
Once you have identified what they want, the next step is to design a way that you can give it to them. This is where invention starts.
How to easily learn from the victories and mistakes of human history
You don't need to wait for history repeats itself. Learning from the mistakes of human past history doesn't require much time. You just need to avoid repeating the mistakes.
The key is to recognize what worked well in the past and apply those lessons to your business.
You can do this by reading books on leadership and management strategies and case studies of successful companies that have been around for decades.
You can learn from their successes and avoid the pitfalls they fell into.
You can also look at examples of businesses which have been bankrupt. What made them fail? What are the common threads among these failures. These insights can help to avoid costly mistakes.
Finally, you can read about famous historical figures such as Abraham Lincoln, John D. Rockefeller, Steve Jobs, and Elon Musk. While they may have had the best resumes in the history of the world, few knew how to manage people and run a business. So if you want to learn from their experiences, you need to find out why they made so many mistakes.
It is possible to learn from both the successes and failures of human history. All you need to do is spend a few minutes every day thinking about what has worked well in the past and finding ways to implement them today.

How To
Accidental Inventions Lead to Penicillin Discovery
How did penicillin come into existence?
Alexander Fleming found penicillin in a bacteria culture he had forgotten about and accidentally discovered it. He believed that mold might kill the bacteria and therefore he attempted to find a solution.
Penicillin was found to kill the mold. He then realized that this new drug could also be used against bacteria. Penicillin was a major medical breakthrough. It saved millions lives and changed forever the course of medicine.
Alexander Fleming wasn't aware at first that this discovery would be so crucial. The other person didn't know the same. Penicillin would soon be a powerful antibiotic.
Researchers discovered that penicillin is effective against bacterial infections only after World War II. In 1945, the U.S. Army asked Dr. Fleming if he could use penicillin to treat soldiers suffering from wounds infected with deadly germs. Dr. Fleming accepted the offer.
Penicillin was found to be effective against many different types of infection. It saved the lives of wounded soldiers in World War II. It also saved many lives for doctors after the war.
Dr. Fleming did not expect that his discovery would have such a profound impact. He simply wanted to make sure that mold doesn't grow in the bacteria cultures he studied. But he couldn’t see how such an easy experiment would lead to such a simple medical breakthrough.
The truth is, many discoveries every day don't seem to amount to anything special at all. They are simply experiments made for no reason.
You can see how even seemingly small experiments can have a profound impact on the course of history.
Discoveries that seem to have nothing in common end up being incredibly important. The discovery of penicillin is an example. Or photography. Or electricity. Or even computers.
It doesn't happen just because someone has an idea. It happens because someone has a problem. Then they experiment to solve their problem.
