They discuss Powell's recent speech on immigration and Frost asks if Powell would like to rephrase anything from his speech. Frost questions Powell's use of the word 'typical' in reference to a story in which a woman in Powell's constituency had human excrement posted through her letterbox. He accuses Powell of being 'a master of language' and rather than encouraging racial harmony, encourages racial hatred through the exploitation of public fear. A black Commonwealth Commissioner arrives and is booed by the Dockers as he enters the building. Powell refuses to accept that the Dockers booed the man until it is confirmed by an ITN reporter who was responsible for filming the footage contacts the programme. Much of the debate between Frost and Powell is arguing over semantics. Powell is very keen to clearly define both his own words and the wording of the questions put to him by Frost. There is so much of this that the programme overruns and is cut short. David Frost requests more time for the programme to continue, which it did in the London region only. Frost believes that Powell has done little to encourage harmony between people of different ethnic backgrounds and Powell argues that avoiding the issues and concerns of a great number of people is just as damaging.
