Series in which historian Bettany Hughes and Ben Robinson presents a unique look at Britain's past by taking to the air in a bid to unlock secrets hidden in the landscape. In this edition, they visit Dorset and the massive ancient monument known as Maiden Castle where their aerial investigation reveals a story of prehistoric life, death and survival as the Romans invaded Britain. Evidence points to the Romans making light work of capturing this awe-inspiring ancient fortification. But from the sky, the site reveals one of the greatest construction projects of ancient Britain and shows just how difficult any assault would have been. On the ground, Bettany discovers evidence that tells quite a different story of how Iron Age Britain succumbed to the Roman way of life.
