Look at Life was a monthly series of short documentary films produced in the 1960s by the Special Features Division of the Rank Organisation for showing in their Odeon and Gaumont cinemas. It replaced the circuit's newsreel, Universal News, which had become increasingly irrelevant in the face of more immediate news media, particularly television. Marvellously concise and beautifully shot, they were light in style and depicted aspects of life in Britain at that time, especially the so called 'swinging' Britain era. Over 500 episodes, all in colour, were produced.
This film was first broadcast: 1959

Frequently Asked Questions
What can we learn from the past?
These are the three most important lessons that history has taught us. First, you must do it yourself when you change the world. You must make sure people are ready to change the way they live. Third, when you change the future, you have to make it better.
The first lesson we can learn is that there are only two ways to transform the world. One is fighting for it, the other is creating it. When you fight for it, you focus on winning and lose sight of why you started fighting in the first place.
You can't control how people react to your ideas, but you can control how you present them. If you attempt to convince someone of something, you'll fail. But if you set out to inspire someone to action, you'll succeed.
Every great movement began with someone who had an idea and decided that they would act on it. You can create change or respond to it. The best way to do this is to be clear and honest about your goals, where you are coming from, and to be bold enough to take the initiative to go places no one has before.
The second lesson we learn is that everyone has the option to choose. You can either let your life happen or you can choose to make it happen. This means that it is up to us to decide how we want our lives to be. Do we wait for someone else to permit us to live? Or do you want to be in control of your destiny?
I'd argue that we're living in a golden age right now. There is more opportunity than ever, which makes it exciting. People feel empowered, which is exciting.
This creates a problem. Because not everyone knows exactly what they want or even how to get it, it's important to figure out what you want and find a way to get it.
For example, let's say you want to buy a house. You could relax and hope that someone will give you a gift voucher to Home Depot. You could also ask yourself "What would you love to do?" Look for a job which allows you to do that. Next, apply for financing.
Now let's imagine you wanted to travel around the world. Perhaps you are asking, "Where do i want to go?" Next, you might start saving money, looking up countries online, and talking to your friends. Finally, you would book a plane.
Let's pretend you didn’t know what your goal was. If that were the case, you would probably do one of those things anyway. But by asking yourself questions like this, you increase your chances of getting what you want. It might seem ridiculous, but it's true.
The third lesson is to never lose sight of the possibility of improving the future. It is easy to see why. Your choices determine who you are and who you become.
The trick to success is to look back at history and learn from their mistakes and successes.
If you don’t believe you can offer anything, you’re already behind. You must believe you are better than you think you are.
You don't need to know everything in order to start. Start small and move on. Take stock of the lessons you've learned in your entire life. What have you failed at? What were your successes? What were your greatest achievements?
You are the only person who can limit what you can do. No matter what anyone says, you can do anything you put your mind to.
Benjamin Franklin wrote, "Nothing works unless you do."
What are three things that you can learn from the past?
There are numerous examples throughout history that demonstrate how we can learn and improve from our mistakes. They can be applied to today's business challenges.
The past teaches us there is always another way. There is always someone who thinks out of the box and takes risks to make themselves stand out.
History shows us that often, it's the underdogs and not the winners who win. You can look back at those times when the underdog won.
You can learn from the past, and bring those lessons into the future. Learn from the mistakes and successes of others.
These lessons can help you improve the success rate.
What Can We Learn From Abraham Lincoln?
Abraham Lincoln said that he was slow to learn, but quick to forget.
He knew how important it was to keep learning because he understood that there would come a time when he would need to unlearn old habits and embrace new ones.
The same is true of our businesses. No matter how meticulously we plan for success and what our goals are, there will be moments when we get stuck in a rut.
It is vital to continually learn and develop new skills. If we do nothing else, we must continue to learn, even after we reach the pinnacle of success.
Lincoln was the right person. He realized that he could not stop learning, even though he was able to be more productive in his business.
There are two types entrepreneurs. There are two types: those who stay active and those who stay informed.
Those who are busy concentrate on growing their businesses. They will be involved in product development, marketing strategies, customer service, or any other daily tasks.
While they may feel they have accomplished something worthwhile, many times they don't. They won't be able to sustain their growth if they don't also work smarter.
What separates successful entrepreneurs from average ones? The ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
Entrepreneurs who are successful find ways to improve their products and services when they face challenges.
Average entrepreneurs, on the other hand, stick to old methods that don't work anymore. They don't want to change until the business goes under.
You must be able to master both self-reflection and adaptation in order to succeed.
What is the most important lesson you can learn from history?
This question doesn't have an easy answer. However, there are three main points to consider when thinking about learning. First, we need to recognize that knowledge is the power of learning. Second, knowledge is cumulative. Third, we must appreciate how quickly knowledge changes.
Knowledge is power. This empowers us with the knowledge we need to make better decisions and live better lives. If we had all the information, it wouldn't be difficult to make decisions. We would always do what is best for us, and not worry about whether it was wrong or right.
Knowledge, although it is power, is also cumulative. Once we have learned something, we can continue adding knowledge to our brains. As we get smarter, our brains become more sophisticated. Knowledge accumulates.
Let's now turn our attention to the third. Knowledge isn't static. Knowledge is constantly evolving. Scientists are constantly discovering new facts, theories, or ways to think. Discoveries are made all the time.
Our culture is dependent on technology that allows us instant access to information. Technology makes it possible to store vast amounts of data in digital form and share it among millions of people worldwide.
Globalization is changing the way that we view technology. Globalization refers the process whereby ideas and products are spread across borders. Knowledge is now easily accessible all over the world because of globalization.
Internet access allows anyone to find information from any part of the world. You can watch movies, browse the internet, listen or play music and read books. All of these activities require knowledge.
Information is becoming more accessible and more specialized. For example, if you go online today, you'll find hundreds of thousands of websites offering advice on topics such as health, finance, business, cooking, sports, and travel. These websites offer information on almost every topic you can think of.
There are likely to be only a few websites offering automotive-related products or services if you try to search the internet for a car. Instead of thousands of sites covering every possible topic, there will be only a handful of sites that are focused on cars.
Because experts in certain fields can share and create valuable knowledge, this is why specialization is important. Experts often have deep knowledge of a field. They're also able to produce high-quality content that's targeted toward their specific audience.
Consumers will appreciate this specialization because they won't have to go through tons of irrelevant information. Instead, they can rely on a limited number of websites that offer lots of valuable content.
Experts also benefit from specialization because they can build strong businesses around their expertise. If someone purchases a book, they expect the author to be an expert in his field and to present a clear and concise explanation. He wants to be confident that the author understands his message.
Experts who do not specialize risk losing potential customers.
There are many areas of expertise. Many of us today are specialists in many areas. You might be an accountant or lawyer, a doctor or teacher. But we're also likely to be a parent, spouses, friends, and fans.
Some experts say that the commonality of specialization makes it impossible to succeed in many different areas.
So how can you become an expert across multiple fields? The answer is simple: practice. You've got to put in the hours necessary to learn something. As you make progress, you must keep going until you are recognized as an expert.
Many industries today are dedicated to helping others accomplish this goal. There are many courses, workshops, seminars and conferences that teach people how quickly to acquire knowledge.

How To
What can humanity learn about the past failures of our ancestors and how can they be improved?
We've been to this place before and will likely return. But there's nothing wrong with learning from history. It may even help humanity weather another crisis.
It's possible to survive if we remain open-minded and continue to learn from our mistakes.
The problem is when we fail to learn from the past and refuse to acknowledge that human nature hasn't changed much since the beginning of time.
There's a lot of wisdom in the old ways, but we tend to ignore them because they conflict with our beliefs. Instead of accepting changes that we find difficult, instead we hold on to what is familiar.
But the world keeps changing, and the way we live together constantly evolves. Our environment is becoming more complex, and we face more problems to solve.
This means that we also need to make changes. This makes us more susceptible to failure, as we won't have the same strategies that worked previously.
We lose sight of our values when we do this and we become slaves to the habits we have created.
Our brains evolved to adapt to conditions that existed thousands of years ago. But these days aren't over.
The future isn’t set in stone. There is still plenty of room for improvement.
Humans still have the ability to accomplish amazing feats. Amazing technologies are possible. To discover new frontiers and explore uncharted territories.
Yet, we tend to limit our abilities. To fear change. To reject evolution. To believe that what worked yesterday can work tomorrow.
Some people attempt to stop this trend. They view themselves as soldiers against the status. Fighting against the establishment. Against the system.
They view themselves as rebels who are proud to challenge convention. They challenge society's conventions and norms.
They defy rules and regulations. They loathe conformity. They are not concerned about social expectations. They think they know better than everyone else.
These people, I wish them all good luck!
You're going to need it!
Because it's a tough battle. The forces that drive mainstream society's success are powerful.
In many places around the globe, the majority has no interest in listening to you. There is no interest in your point of view.
No matter how brilliant and well-intentioned your ideas are, it doesn't make a difference. Your ideas may not be popular with the masses.
Your message could go unheard. And that's exactly why you'll need weird lessons from history.
Because that is where the real power lies. This is where the real power lies.
This is where others can be inspired to achieve their goals. These are the places where you can make a difference and transform the world.
Let me ask, what do you want? Do you want to spend your life living up to other people's expectations? Or would it be better to decide your own path.
