The Unbelievable Rise and Fall of The DeLorean, The Most 80s Car Ever Built

It's an iconic car, the DeLorean, made famous by its fundamental role in the Back to the Future movies - but do you know the man behind the car? Do you know the John DeLorean story?

The DeLorean's namesake, John DeLorean, lived a life so intriguing that it's now the subject of two major movies. Framing John DeLorean, featuring Alec Baldwin, was released in July 2019, a mashup of documentary footage and reenactments of DeLorean's extraordinary path. A month later brought the arrival of Driven starring Jason Sudeikis and Lee Pace and detailing DeLorean's exhaustive - albeit questionable - quest to make the innovative, ethical sports car.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can learning about history stop us from repeating past mistakes?

Because we make the same mistakes over and over again, history repeats itself. We make mistakes and fail to learn. We don't change. We become complacent. We settle for mediocrity.

History repeats itself because we believe the same old stories. Our culture has conditioned us to believe there is an immutable law and a fixed truth. These laws are unchangeable and we have no control over them.

This prevents us thinking critically. To question authority. Questioning authority. We don't grow if we don’t question. When we don't learn, we stagnate. And when we stagnate, we repeat the same mistakes.

But history doesn't repeat itself because we make the same mistakes. History repeats itself when we refuse to learn from past mistakes and instead keep repeating them.

By changing your outlook on the world and understanding that there is no set way, you can break the cycle. There is no set in stone. All things are subject to constant change.

Accepting uncertainty is the key to breaking this cycle. Accept that things might go wrong. Accepting that failure may be possible. Accepting that failure is possible.

Accept that you may not achieve your goals. Acceptance of this fact is okay. But, don't let it stop you from striving to improve.

You will always remain stuck in the past if you hold on to certainty. You can't move forward if your beliefs are fixed.

To achieve freedom, you must be open to change. If you want to progress, you have to give up control.

What are the three most important lessons from history?

History is full of examples of how we can learn from our mistakes. These lessons can be applied today to business problems and used as opportunities for growth.

The past has taught us that there is always a better way. There is always someone out there who thinks outside the box and takes risks that make them stand apart.

History also shows that sometimes it's the underdogs who triumph. You can look back at those times when the underdog won.

Look back on the past and learn from it. Learn from others' failures and successes.

Use these lessons to help you improve your success rate.

Who originally said those who don't learn from history?

As much as we would love to live in an ideal world where everyone learns from history, there is nothing more valuable than learning from our mistakes.

The best way to learn how to do something correctly is to actually experience it.

The real error is not making sure you do it correctly the first attempt.

You'll eventually discover why you made the changes if you continue to make them.

It is possible to discover that you could have done things better the first time around.

However, that doesn't mean you should not try again. That means you've learnt a lot.

While you may not be able avoid making mistakes, there are ways to minimize them. That's what makes the difference between success or failure.

Recognizing your mistakes is the first step. Take a step back and look at your mistakes objectively. Then ask yourself, "What did you learn?"

You'll find that mistakes can be viewed as lessons if you are honest with yourself. They're learning experiences that can help you grow.

Thomas Edison went through exactly the same thing. He failed many times before inventing the light bulb.

He didn't let his failures discourage him. Instead, he took each failure as an opportunity and improved his design.

He invented the best form of lighting that is popular today.

So, if you fail, don't get discouraged. Learn from your errors. You should learn from your mistakes.

And then try again.

What lessons can be learned from history?

We have three lessons from history. First, it is up to you to make a difference in the world. The second is to ensure that people are ready to accept change in their lives. Third, when you change the future, you have to make it better.

The first lesson is to recognize that there are two options for changing the world. One is fight for it. If you fight for it you lose sight on why you started to fight.

While you cannot control their reactions to your ideas or how they present them, you can influence how they are presented. If you try to convince someone, you will fail. However, if you are determined to motivate someone to take action, you will succeed.

Great movements were born out of an idea that was realized and then taken action. So whether you're creating change or reacting to it, the best way to make your mark is to follow these three rules: Be clear about what you want, be honest about where you come from, and be brave enough to go where nobody else has gone before.

The second lesson is that each of us has a choice. We can either wait for our lives to happen to us, or we can choose to make them happen. This means we must decide what kind of life we want to lead. Do we expect someone else to let us live? Or do we want to take charge of our destiny?

I believe that we are living in the golden age. We have more opportunities than ever before which is creating excitement. People feel empowered to make their own futures and that's very exciting.

However, it can also be a problem. Because not everyone knows exactly what they want or even how to get it, it's important to figure out what you want and find a way to get it.

Let's say, for instance, that you are looking to buy a home. You could wait and see if someone gives you Home Depot gift certificates. You could also think about what you would love to do. Find a job that will allow you to do it. Next, apply for financing.

Now, suppose you were to travel the world. You might ask yourself, "Where do I want to go?" Then, you'd start saving money, researching countries online, talking to friends, etc. Then, you book a trip.

Let's say that you don't have a clear idea of what you want. In that case, you'd probably end up doing one of those things anyway. Asking yourself these questions will increase your chances of getting the results you desire. It might seem ridiculous, but it's true.

And the third lesson is that no matter what happens next, you can always improve the future. It is very simple. Your choices determine who you are and who you become.

It is important to take inspiration from past experiences, learn from mistakes and succeed until you are successful.

If you don’t believe that you have anything to contribute, then you are already behind. You have to believe that you're better than you thought you were.

You can start by learning what you already know. Start small and build from there. Consider what you have learned over the course of your life. What have your failures been? What have you succeeded at? What have you done to overcome obstacles?

Last but not least, remember that no one can stop you from reaching your full potential. You can accomplish anything, no matter what anyone tells you.

Benjamin Franklin wrote, "Nothing works unless you do."

How To

Accidental discovery of penicillin: A successful invention

How did penicillin come into existence?

Alexander Fleming, who had some bacteria cultures left behind, noticed that penicillin was growing on them. He thought the mold might kill the bacteria, so he tried to find something that would destroy the mold.

Penicillin was found to kill the mold. He then realized that this new drug could also be used against bacteria. Penicillin's discovery was one of most important medical breakthroughs. It saved millions lives and changed forever the course of medicine.

Alexander Fleming did not know at first that his discovery would prove so significant. Neither did anyone else. Penicillin was a powerful antibiotic that no one had ever imagined.

Scientists discovered penicillin could be used to treat bacterial infections, but this was not until after World War II. In 1945, the U.S. Army asked Dr. Fleming if he could use penicillin to treat soldiers suffering from wounds infected with deadly germs. Dr. Fleming consented to try.

Penicillin proved to be effective against many kinds of infections. It became a lifesaver for wounded soldiers during World War II. It was also used to save the lives of many doctors in post-war Germany.

Dr. Fleming was not prepared for his discovery to have such profound effects. He just wanted to ensure mold didn't grow on the bacteria cultures he used to study. But he couldn't imagine how this simple experiment would lead to an incredible medical breakthrough.

Many discoveries made every day aren't really remarkable. They are simply experiments made for no reason.

When you look back over history, you see that sometimes those seemingly unimportant experiments can change everything.

Even discoveries that appear to have little in common end up being extremely important. Penicillin was one example. Or photography. Or electricity. Or even computers.

The invention doesn't happen because someone thinks of a brilliant idea. It happens because someone is faced with a problem. They then solve the problem by experimentation.
