This documentary looks at the effects of the discovery of the New World by Christopher Columbus in 1492 and visits Mexico, the Escorial monastery and palace near Madrid, a dinner at the Middle Temple in London and the Red Indians of the Mattaponi tribe in Jamestown, Virginia. Filmed at locations throughout the world, this series tells the epic story of the mapping of the globe, from the mystics who supposed that the world was supported by a tortoise living on the backs of four elephants, to present day cartographers.
