As of 2021, amateur astronomers have discovered over 1,000 objects in the cosmos, some of which include near earth objects. These amateur astronomers are even being included in scientific papers, with researchers saying that everyday people using telescopes have in the last year discovered over 400 new exoplanets, 395 asteroids, and over 110 near earth objects.
