A one-off documentary film that features the Western States Race in California. The 'Western States 100' is one of the world's toughest endurance races - 100 miles over rugged mountains and deep valleys in Northern California in under 30 hours. With athletes from all over the world taking part, one challenger very different from the rest is to take centre stage. He is a man from another country, another culture, a different time - with an impassive face, revealing no emotion. This man, a Tarahumara Indian, is the focus of this exciting production.
This film was first broadcast: 2000
