Neonicotinoids were used to protect corn, for example, from insects, but millions of bees and other animals lost their lives. There are natural alternatives to dangerous neonicotinoids, such as worms. This would protect the bees, but the pharmaceutical lobby is too influential. Trials conducted on behalf of Bayer concluded that neonicotinoids had nothing to do with bee deaths.
But in France, independent studies found different results, at which point neonicotinoids were banned in France to protect bees and beekeepers. Longtime researchers say it's not just about the bees; we're about to destroy all of nature.
